Welcome to ExtremeVolunteer.com

Join Builders to Watch Scott Family Episode

Just seven weeks after completion of the project on Edna Lane in Montgomery County, the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition episode featuring the Scott family will air on Dec. 6.

Local builders Duncan & Duncan Construction and Singletary Construction, who coordinated the build project, are inviting volunteers, partners and other participants in the build project to an airdate party to be held at Montgomery County Civic Hall, Veteran’s Plaza, 350 Pageant Lane.

The airdate party will begin at 6 p.m. with a behind-the-scenes video special presentation prior to the 7 p.m. ABC television broadcast.

“There were hundreds of volunteers involved in the project,” builder Don Duncan said. “We want to have as many as will to join us to watch the program.”

The episode will be a first opportunity for the public to see the inside of the house that was built in 106 hours following the door knock on October 17.  For many volunteers, it will be the first opportunity to see many phases of the project, Duncan said.

The Scott family, Trina and her three daughters, were selected by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to have their problem-ridden home rebuilt.  Trina’s husband, David, and his partner were killed tragically in 2002 when their Clarksville Police patrol vehicle was violently struck by a truck.

Since then, Trina Scott has devoted time to Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. (C.O.P.S.) which helps the surviving family members of officers killed in the line of duty.

Light snacks will be provided at the airdate party.  The video and the episode will be shown on three screens at Civic Hall.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It is executive-produced by Anthony Dominici. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America.  Extreme Makeover: Home Edition airs on ABC television Sundays at 7 p.m. Central Time.

Cameras Are Gone; Volunteering Continues

The cameras and the excitement may be gone, but the volunteer work continues at Edna Lane in Montgomery County.

Thousands of volunteers particapted October 17 -23 in the project to build a house for Trina Scott as part of an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition episode.  That project was successfully completed, but the project leaders who lead the exhaustive effort are not finished.

One of the lead contractors, Don Duncan of Duncan & Duncan Construction has taken a brief rest and is shifting focus next door to assist a neighbor of the Scott family.  During the build project for the Scott family, needs for a neighbor became apparent, Duncan said.

Duncan said that a smaller team of volunteers are going to do a min-makeover this weekend at the Ringgold house.  Plans for the project include intalling new lighting, reworking stairs, installing dead bolds, fixing sheetrock problems, and removing cabinets to install a new stove.  Much of the material has been donated as well as all the labor, Duncan said.

Some of the volunteers from the Scott family project will be participating in this effort, Duncan said.

ABC Announces Earlier than Expected Air Date

ABC announced this morning that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition -- The Scott Family will air December 6, 2009.  The announcement was released by Lock and Key Productions early this morning, Clarksville time.

While it is not clear why ABC decided to air this episode so quickly after production, Lock and Key personnel indicate that it is unusual.  Lock and Key Productions is the company that produces Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  Usually a final air date decision is made after the episode editing is finalized.  Most often, the air date is about three months after the project has ended.

Hardly six weeks after completing the project, the thousands of Montgomery County volunteers who helped build the Scotts' Woodlawn home will be able to gather to see the production presentation of their work.

New Photos Added -- More To Come

New photos have been added for days 5, 6, and 7.  Several problems and the hectic scheduled of the last few days created delays in posting photos.  There will be additional photos posted for days 6 and 7 as well as photos from day 8 -- after the reveal.  Please check back to see additional photos.

The behind-the-scenes photo project has been an effort to provide additonal views of the build that will never be seen on the show.  In addition to the photos, video was shot throughout the build.  A video of the build project will be produced and will be presented at the show airing party.  Details about the availability of the video will be provided at the airing party.

This website will continue to be active until after the air date.

The Story Continues -- There Will Be More

The rain cleared out and about 2,000 excited spectators were on Edna Drive to welcome the Scott family to their new home.  The crowd was willing as long as necessary.  Eventually, Ty opened the limo door for the Scott family and, as the crowd chanted, directed the driver to MOVE THAT BUS!

The Scotts were overwhelmed at the sight of the new two-store home where their termite-infested one-level ranch house had stood less that a week earlier.  As they took it all in, Ty led the family down a new paved path in their yard to their familiar flag pole where a memorial to their fallen father/husband had been nestled in a new place.

It was an afternoon of excitement, anticipation and emotion.

More photos will be posted on this website and the site will be active until after the show airs.  Please be patient.  There have been more than 100,000 hits per day on the site.  At times, the tremendous activity has caused the site to crash.

We have not posted photos as rapidly as we would like.  First, all photos must be approved by an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition executive in Los Angeles before being posted.  Although she has been great in approving photos quickly, it has taken time. We conducted video and photography operations from a small tent across the street from the house.  At least two of our computers malfunctioned because of the dust generated on site.  On Thursday, internet access was not available at the site hampering our ability to get photos posted.  Also, our crew has worked through several hundred photos each day to select those to submit for approval.

Our crew has worked 24-hours a day during the build to ensure that we would have photographic and video coverage of the entire build.  While you may not see your part of the project on the television show, you likely will see it in some of the photos and video that will be available after the show airs.  There are significant restrictions on what can be posted prior to the air date of the show.

Be patient for more photos to be added this week.  Then, be in anticipation for the video and additional photos that will be available when the show airs.

We have tremendously enjoyed this week.  We are humbled at the opportunity to be a part.  We appreciate being able to share the story with you.

Be At the House to Help Ty Yell "Move That Bus"

The house is almost complete and the family is coming home to a new house provided by hundreds of volunteers.  The family is coming home Friday, October 23 and their limo is expected to arrive at approximately 2 p.m.

You will want to be there lining Edna Lane as the Scott family returns home.  Plan to arive early so you will have a good view of the beautiful house and be close to the family a they see for the first time their new house that is a life-changing gift to them from the builders, partners and volunteers from Montgomery County and around the area.

Follow signs from Dover Road to the parking area for the bus shuttle to the site.  There will be no on-site parking.
